Macro Zapper enables you to delete all macros from Microsoft
Word documents.
Why delete macros?
Macros are a commonly used by viruses. Being infected by, or
inadvertently distributing files containing macro viruses is
an ever-increasing risk.
Stripping macros from files received by email or downloaded
over the Internet assures you that the file contains no
macro virus. Stripping macros from files you send by email
or post on the Internet assures you that you have not
inadvertently spread an infected file.
While anti-virus programs can detect the presence of known
viruses, wild viruses can circulate for days or even weeks
before being detected. Then, updates to anti-virus
software programs must be created, and users must download
them before their system can detect and protect against the
virus. By then, you may already have sent an infected file
onto others within and outside your organization.
The best protection against macro viruses is to strip the
macros right out of the file. While macros present an
interesting and useful capability in some files, they are
not required for most simple documents.
Software programs that open files containing macros may have
settings that disable macros, or warn you that the file
contains macros. But virus authors always seem to be able to
find that one way around the security measures built into a
program.
